    Description

In its depiction of a fully articulated caterpillar, this impressive piece abounds with whimsy, imagination, and silver-making prowess. Here, 14 repoussé silver domes interconnect at the back with fixed and floating rings to form the bug's segmented body. The domes graduate in size and each boasts three silver beads fused at the bottom to depict legs. This intricately constructed and flexible body section is then topped by the piece de resistance—the caterpillar's fabulous head. Three delicate, silver antennae tower overhead. The first 3 domes are a solid piece that don't move and the remaining 11 are flexible with a chain link holding them together creating a great eye catching movement. With a rollover-locking clasp at the back of the brooch that allows the wearer to arrange the piece to taste—this is an eminently wearable work, as well as a collector must-have. Could be worn horizontally and the tail will hang down or just wear the pin vertically so he hangs straight up and down. Very unique and unusual piece! Total length of the caterpillar measures 6.75 inches long. The head with the crown measures a little over 1 inch tall. Hallmarked 925 on the back.
