JACK SWIGERT
.  Jack Swigert (1931–1982) was a NASA astronaut who, as a last-minute replacement for Ken Mattingly (who had been exposed to German measles), was one of three crew members on the near-disastrous Apollo 13 mission.  After becoming embroiled in the controversy surrounding souvenirs carried aboard the Apollo 15 mission, Swigert embarked on a political career running unsuccessfully for a Senate seat in 1978.  He finally won a seat in the House of Representatives in 1982, but died before taking office.
RARE AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED BY APOLLO 13 ASTRONAUT JACK SWIGERT DISCUSSING THE CREW OF THE UPCOMING APOLLO 12 MISSION
Rare autograph letter signed by, “Jack,” Swigert to Volkswagen executive Ken Sharp discussing the crew of the upcoming Apollo 12 mission: “Have your picture all signed.  Thru a fortuitous bit of luck, the 12 crew was in town this weekend.  Still have to get Bill’s address so I can send him a picture.  Does he have any kids?”  Six months after this letter was written, Swigert would act as the command module pilot for the infamous Apollo 13 space mission.  The letter is one page, measures quarto, created in Houston, TX on October 12, [1969], and in pristine condition.
