Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first and second men to walk on the moon during the historical Apollo 11 mission. Neil Armstrong [1930 2012] was the commander of Apollo 11 and Buzz Aldrin served as the Lunar Module pilot.
Apollo 11 was the fifth manned mission of NASA's Apollo program and on July 20, 1969, astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin stepped on the lunar surface and fulfilled a nations goal set by President John F. Kennedy nearly a decade earlier. Armstrong and Aldrin explored for 21 and a half hours on the lunar surface and returned to earth on July 24, 1969. Listed for auction is a stunning display which contains the authenticated autographs of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. The autographs are signed on [DS] documented signed, personal checks. The check signed by Neil Armstrong is drawn upon his personal account from The Fifth Bank of Cincinnati, Ohio. The check is dated 4/3 1987, completed entirely in his hand and is signed ''Neil A. Armstrong'' in blue pen. The check measures 6.25 x 3.00 inches and is in fine condition. The check signed by Buzz Aldrin is drawn upon his personal account from the Crocker National Bank Los Angeles, California. The check is dated 9-20-79, completed entirely in his hand and is signed ''Edwin E. Aldrin Jr.'' in black ink. The check is also signed again on the verso which you can view on the C.O.A. The check measures 6.25 x 3.00 inches and is in fine condition. The documents has been authenticated by Zarelli Space Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letters of Authenticity. The display is centered around a beautiful oversized panoramic image of Neil Armstrong working on the lunar surface near the Apollo 11 Lunar Module with the American flag proudly on display. Did you know that there are only a handful of images of Neil Armstrong on the lunar surface. The photograph is a high quality and detailed color image which measures 23.00 x 8.00 inches. Also mounted within the display is a Apollo 11 mission patch along with two [2] NASA patches. The last item mounted within the display is a professionally engraved metal plaque which reads as follows, ''Neil Armstrong - Edwin ''Buzz'' Aldrin. At 4:18 pm on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong's voice crackled from the speakers at NASA's Mission Control in Houston. He said simply, ''The Eagle has landed.'' On July 16, 1969, the Saturn V rocket launched Apollo 11 into the sky from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.'' Armstrong, Collins and  Aldrin were awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President' Richard Nixon. President Jimmy Carter presented Armstrong with the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1978, and Armstrong and his former crewmates received a Congressional Gold Medal in 2009. The display has been professionally framed with great attention to detail and assembled with all acid free materials as follows. Each item within the display has been triple matted in a unique grey outer matte and accented with a silver and a dark blue inner matte. The display has been completed in a quality ornate silver wood frame to the dimensions of 31.00 x 24.00 inches and it is stunning. To the collector signed checks are a desirable format to obtain autographs. Buzz Aldrin signed checks are not common but can be found by collectors. Neil Armstrong signed checks are rare to find and desirable to obtain. With the passing of Neil Armstrong and his refusal to sign autographs since 1994, the value of his autograph has steadily risen and clearly in a few years Apollo 11 autographs are going to be unattainable for the average collector.
