An antique gold coloured metal hunting, fisheries themed pin from former Czechoslovakia, it is 2cm wide and has a long, stick pin style fastener to the rear. Featuring the text State Fisheries Hluboka, it would have been worn by members of fisheries management team of Hluboka.
Historical Background
In Czechoslovakia and in much of middle Europe; hunting and forestry have a rich tradition stretching back hundreds of years.
Traditional hunting uniforms are still worn and age old customs observed. During the hunting season it is common to see hunting parties gathering in the early morning preparing for the daily hunt. The principal quarry are wild boars, deer, foxes, grouse and duck.
The Czech hunters' union uses the logo of a stag's head and a 3-pronged pine twig, these emblems often appear on Czech hunting memoribilia and are the official signs of the union. You can visit the Moravian Hunters Union web page and see the emblem in use.
